Top Communication Apps Performance in the Middle East: Q1 2025

The first quarter of 2025 saw notable trends in the performance of leading communication apps in the Middle East, based on data from Sensor Tower.

imo-International Calls & Chat showed fluctuations in its weekly revenue, peaking at around $121K in mid-February, before dropping to approximately $83K by mid-March. Weekly downloads fluctuated slightly, maintaining an average of around 240K, while active users experienced a rise, starting at 15.8M and reaching over 16.6M by the end of March.

Telegram experienced a positive trend in revenue, starting the quarter at $210K and ending at $323K. Downloads saw a decline from 225K to 189K mid-quarter, then rebounded to 226K. Active users showed a gradual decrease, from 29.3M to 28.3M by the end of the quarter.

Snapchat maintained strong revenue figures, with a notable peak of $1.5M in late February. Downloads dipped from 248K to 191K but climbed back to 259K by the end of March. Active users remained fairly stable, fluctuating around 27M throughout the quarter.

Azar: Video Chat, Meet Friends experienced a revenue dip in early March to $158K but recovered to $288K by the end of the quarter. Downloads remained relatively steady, with a slight increase from 21K to 25K. Active users decreased from 65K to 48K, showing a downward trend.

WhatsApp Business saw a moderate revenue increase, peaking at $54K in February, before settling at $39K. Weekly downloads started at 216K, dipped to 191K, and ended at 204K. Active users remained consistent, hovering around 17.6M.
